This page describes which cookies the website hoteletar.com uses, what they are for and how you can change your choice.

The company responsible for the website is „Интер Турс Къмпани“ ЕООД, UIC 206681066, with its registered office and management address at гр. Велико Търново 5000, ул. „Ивайло“ № 6 (6 Ivaylo Street, 5000 Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria). The company operates Hotel Etar at the same address – phone +359 892 217 915, email book@hoteletar.com. In this text, “we” and “the hotel” mean this company.

In brief

• The website has no analytics, advertising or social media cookies.
• We set only two cookies of our own, and both are necessary: one protects the forms, the other remembers your cookie choice.
• The Google map on the Contact page loads only if you agree. Google may then set its own cookies.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website leaves in your browser. When you open the next page, your browser sends it back, and that is how the website “remembers” something from the previous page – for example a choice you have made.

Session cookies are deleted as soon as you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a set period. First-party cookies are set by our own website. Third-party cookies are set by another company whose content is embedded in the page – in our case, only Google.

Which cookies we use

ETAR_SESSION

• Set by: the hotel (first-party cookie).
• Purpose: protects the enquiry and contact forms against abuse and against being submitted from other websites. It is set only when you send a form – it is not set while you are just browsing the website. It contains only a random code.
• Duration: until you close your browser.
• Type: necessary; no consent required.

etar_consent

• Set by: the hotel (first-party cookie).
• Purpose: remembers your choice in the cookie bar – “Accept all” (value all) or “Necessary only” (value necessary) – so that we do not ask you on every page.
• Duration: 12 months. After that we will ask you again.
• Type: necessary; no consent required.

Google Maps cookies

• Set by: Google (third-party cookies).
• Purpose: they are set or read when the map on the Contact page is loaded. Which cookies they are and what Google uses them for is decided by Google under its own rules – see Google’s page on cookies.
• Duration: set by Google.
• Type: optional; set only if you agree.

The website uses no other cookies.

The Google map

Until you agree, the map does not load and your browser does not connect to Google. In its place there is a “Show the map” button and an “Open in Google Maps” link, which opens the map on Google’s website.

The map loads if you press “Show the map” or “Accept all”. Both buttons save your consent for 12 months.

When the map loads, your browser sends Google your IP address, the address of the page and information about your browser, and Google may set or read its own cookies. For users in the European Union, the company responsible for this data is Google Ireland Limited, which may transfer it to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1795). For hotel staff only

The administration area of the website is for hotel staff only. There, ETAR_SESSION remembers that a staff member has signed in. After 30 minutes without activity, and after 12 hours at the latest, they have to sign in again.

The administration area also remembers the language of the menu and the language in which the staff member edits the texts. These two settings are kept in their browser (in what is called local storage) and are not cookies. Visitors to the website cannot reach this area.

Legal basis

Storing information on your device and accessing it are governed by Article 4a of the Electronic Commerce Act (ЗЕТ). ETAR_SESSION and etar_consent are necessary for a service you have asked for yourself – sending an enquiry and remembering your choice. That is why we do not ask for your consent for them (Article 4a, paragraph 4, item 2).

For the Google map we ask for your consent. You can withdraw it at any time, as described below. Withdrawal takes effect for the future.

How to change your choice

At the bottom of every page there is a “Cookie settings” link. It opens the bar with the two buttons again, and you can make a different choice.

If you choose “Necessary only”, the Google map will not load. A map that is already on the screen stays there until you next open the page. Cookies that Google has already set stay in your browser until you delete them or they expire.

How to delete cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. The help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge explain how.

If you delete etar_consent, we will ask you again on your next visit. If you block all cookies, the website forms will not be able to send an enquiry. In that case, write to us at book@hoteletar.com or call us on +359 892 217 915.
