This page explains how to book a room at Hotel Etar, what the price includes, how to pay and what you need to know when you check in. If anything is unclear, write to us or call us before you book.
In brief

- Prices are in euros, per room per night, and include VAT and tourist tax. Breakfast is not included (section 4).
- We do not ask for a prepayment. You can pay in advance or at reception (section 5).
- Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00 (section 6).

- Unified Identification Code (UIC): 206681066
- VAT number: BG206681066
- Registered office and management address: гр. Велико Търново 5000, ул. „Ивайло“ № 6 (6 Ivaylo Street, 5000 Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria)

1.3. Hotel Etar is categorised as a four-star hotel – category certificate No. РК-19-17781, issued by the Minister of Tourism and valid until 4 September 2031.
1.4. Our activities are supervised by the Ministry of Tourism and the Commission for Consumer Protection (КЗП).
1.5. In these terms, “we” and “the hotel” mean the company named in clause 1.1, and “you” means the person who sends us an enquiry, makes a reservation or stays at the hotel.
2. What these terms cover
2.1. These terms apply to enquiries and reservations you make directly with us – through the website, by email or by phone – and to your stay at the hotel.
2.2. The specific terms of each reservation are set out in our confirmation (clause 3.5). If the confirmation states something different from these general terms, the confirmation applies.
3. How to book
3.1. You send us an enquiry through the forms on the website, by email or by phone. An enquiry is not a reservation and does not bind either you or us. No payment is made on the website and no card details are entered there.
3.2. The calendar on the website is only there to fill in the dates in your enquiry. Choosing dates does not reserve a room.
3.3. We reply by email or by phone and tell you whether we have a room available for the dates you want.
3.4. Your reservation is made only once we confirm it – by email or by phone. Only our confirmation makes the reservation final. Until then, the room is not held for you.
3.5. In the confirmation we state the dates, the room, the price and the terms that apply to that reservation – including whether and how you can change or cancel it. Please check these details and tell us straight away if you notice a mistake.
3.6. The statutory right to withdraw without giving a reason within 14 days, which you have with many purchases made at a distance, does not apply to accommodation for specific dates – see Article 57, item 12 of the Consumer Protection Act (ЗЗП). That is why changes to a reservation and its cancellation are governed by the terms in the confirmation.
3.7. If you have a question that these terms do not answer (for example about children, or about changing or cancelling a reservation), ask us before you book.
4. Prices
4.1. Prices on the website are in euros, per room per night. They include VAT and tourist tax.
4.2. Breakfast is not included in the price.
4.3. The amount the website shows when you send an enquiry is only an estimate. The price that applies to your reservation is the one stated in the confirmation.
5. Payment
5.1. We do not ask for a prepayment. You can pay in advance or at reception – whichever suits you.
5.2. If you would like to pay by bank transfer, reception will email you the transfer details and the exact amount.
5.3. We do not publish a bank account on the website, and no payment is made through the website.
6. Check-in and your stay
6.1. Check-in is from 15:00, and the room must be vacated by 11:00 on the day of departure.
6.2. On check-in you show an identity document at reception – an identity card or a passport. Under the Tourism Act (ЗТ) we are required to enter the details the Act specifies in the register of accommodated tourists. These details are submitted to the Unified Tourist Information System (ЕСТИ) of the Ministry of Tourism. For foreign nationals we also enter the details required by the Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria Act (ЗЧРБ).
6.3. We do not copy, scan or photograph the document – we only enter the necessary details from it.
6.4. Smoking is prohibited by law in the rooms and in the other indoor areas of the hotel.
7. Personal data and cookies
7.1. The controller of your personal data is the company named in clause 1.1. How we process personal data, how long we keep it and what your rights are is described in our privacy policy.
7.2. Which cookies the website uses is explained in our cookie policy.
8. Complaints and claims
8.1. If something is not right, tell us straight away – we can help most quickly while you are still at the hotel.
8.2. You can make a complaint or a claim (рекламация) orally or in writing – at reception, by phone, at book@hoteletar.com, through the contact form or by letter to our address (section 1).
8.3. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can contact the Commission for Consumer Protection (КЗП): 1 Vrabcha Street, floors 3–5, 1000 Sofia, phone 0700 111 22, kzp.bg. In Veliko Tarnovo the Commission has an office at Tsentar-2 Square, Building No. 2, 1st floor, phone 062 624 194.
8.4. You can also ask for the dispute to be resolved out of court by the general conciliation commissions at the Commission for Consumer Protection. The dispute is heard by the commission for your address – for Veliko Tarnovo Province this is the General Conciliation Commission based in Ruse, and if you have no address in Bulgaria, the commission in Sofia. Before that, you must have made a claim to us. The procedure is voluntary, free of charge and takes up to 90 days. More information (in Bulgarian): kzp.bg/bg/pomiritelna-komisiya.
8.5. In any case, you can also go to court.
9. Governing law and language
9.1. These terms and reservations with us are governed by Bulgarian law. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection given to you by the mandatory rules of the law of the country where you live.
9.2. These terms are published in Bulgarian, English and Romanian. The translations are for your convenience. If the texts differ, the Bulgarian text prevails. This does not limit the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
10. Changes to these terms
10.1. When we change these terms, we update the date at the top of this page.
10.2. Each reservation is governed by the terms that were in force on the day we confirmed it. Later changes do not affect it.
